Sustainability Initiatives

In an industry that requires so many natural resources, Suburban Door Company, Inc. takes great pride in our achievements and continued efforts to enhance, and broaden our sustainability practices. Our goal is to have the least amount of impact on the environment possible, while still providing the products you want and deserve.

Suburban Door cares about the environment

Here are some of the green practices we’ve implemented at Suburban Door:

All water based Ultra-Low VOC prefinishing department since 1992. We have received awards and recognition from Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Small Business Compliance Advisory Panel for our efforts to increase air quality.

Recycling of drying room air. When we converted to water based finishing products in 1992 we were able to recycle the heated air that we used in our finishing process. This recycled air was used to heat our warehouse and greatly reduced our natural gas consumption.

Bronze level supporter of PGE Clean Wind renewable power program. Approximately 25% of all power used comes from Clean Wind renewable power.

Energy Conservation. We have participated in several energy conservation projects with PGE and the Energy Trust of Oregon to reduce our energy demand.

Recycling of all waste wood. We have established a strategic partnership with Roseburg Lumber to convert all our waste material to new composite building materials.

Suburban Door Green Practices

Conversion of scrap lumber to paint grade finger jointed products. Our milling division converts all non-stain grade molding stock to a finger jointed paint grade product. We have recently made a large capital investment to ensure that almost no material goes to waste.

Carrying a wide variety of composite products. We feel it is necessary to provide our customers with a variety of environmentally friendly products; this includes composite products made from recycled materials.

Sourcing low emitting and regionally manufactured products. On a regular basis we are working with our customers and clients to help them meet LEED requirements. If you are look LEED qualified products, we have the experiences and resources to help you achieve your goals.

We know that doing business in the North West comes with a special responsibility to our environment. We will continue to look for opportunities to reduce our energy requirements and will continue operating our business using current sustainable practices while constantly exploring new advances. We hope that we can be your partner in your own sustainability initiative.

Through long term vision and innovative ideas, together we can achieve great things.
